Even with the right skills and experience, good teamwork depends on understanding different personalities.

Jakob Hofman, founder and CEO of the Danish digital agency Kendskab with 10 employees, has also seen how important it is to ensure a good match between employees and customers to optimise collaboration. And he knows that it has a negative impact on employee satisfaction in case of a mismatch. That leads indirectly to an impact on team performance and ultimately on the business.

Skilled specialists are not enough

Jakob has been in the process of finding an approach that can give him and his employees a complete picture of their differences when he comes across Personpilot.

“At that time, we were about to activate a more customer-orientated strategy and recruit new employees. We are a house of skilled specialists, but there also needs to be balance and focus on the overall picture of both hard and soft skills. I've tried different initiatives with workshops, cultural analysis and coloured blocks on the tables, but it's only with Personpilot that I and my colleagues get the full picture of our personality profiles.”

Understand what job candidates bring to the team dynamic

Kendskab uses DISC for profiling and all employees, including management, take a test directly in the Personpilot tool. From there, Jakob starts looking for the types of people he needs in his recruitment process so he can put together the best team. He invites the most qualified job applicants to take a DISC test so he can assess what they bring to the dynamic of each customer delivery team. In this way, the DISC profile and Personpilot becomes a concrete tool to supplement the crucial human assessment.

"In a small company like ours, there's a lot at stake when we are recruiting several people at once. So, I've really enjoyed using Personpilot to put together the right team. It has also provided a different starting point in the interviews, so we can talk about development potential and strengths in a more nuanced way,"

says Jakob.

A simple tool that helps set the team

In addition to recruitment, Kendskab uses the overview from Personpilot to help employees learn more about themselves and each other; both in mutual collaboration by contributing with a greater understanding of differences. But Jakob also uses it actively in 1-1 conversations so that each employee understands their own behavioural patterns better.

"The main advantage of Personpilot is that it's simple. I can do a lot myself and a complex area like personality profiles becomes concrete and manageable. For us, the benefit is that we can put together the right team through insights from personality profiles - both collectively among all employees and in the individual project teams that we put together for each customer. This has been essential in realising our business strategy,"

concludes Jakob.
